About Sahara Kelly
HELLO !
I'm Sahara Kelly
I was born and raised in England, where I developed a lifelong affection for an extra “u” in words like colour, favour, and harbour, along with an early love of stories, sarcasm, and Monty Python. I relocated to the United States carrying a suitcase full of books (notably Leslie Charteris’ Saint novels), a stubborn English accent (now fading a bit), and a firm belief that spelling is sometimes a matter of philosophy.
I now live in Northern Virginia with my husband and two cats who are convinced they are in charge. I've been writing for close to forty years now (eek) and have published more than 150 books across a frankly alarming number of genres, including Regency romance, historicals, steampunk, fantasy, time travel, and paranormal romance. I firmly believe that genre boundaries are suggestions, not rules, and I do enjoy inventing a few of my own. (Paranormal Regency Horror, anyone?)
These days, I'm happily embracing the freedom of self-publishing, where stories can leap directly from writer to reader without anyone tutting disapprovingly. I am especially fond of strong women, clever heroes, happy endings - plus an occasional airship — and I fully intend to keep writing as long as there are stories to tell and ice for my gin.
Not much else to mention really. I'm honoured to have made some wonderful friends along this odd road paved with words. And a few have been with me from that very first step. They are integral to my life, since writing is an oddly lonely pursuit, but with a buddy who "gets it"? All's right with my world.
